Renaming Devices (Aliases)
Every device — access point or client — is uniquely identified by a MAC address, which isn't very human-friendly. Aliases let you rename any MAC to something meaningful.
What you can do
- Set a friendly name for any MAC address (e.g. "Front Desk AP", "Warehouse Scanner #3").
- The alias then shows up everywhere that device appears — Dashboard, Clients, Reports, Tickets.
- Clear an alias by saving an empty name, which removes it.
Why it matters
A list of BSSIDs and MAC addresses is hard to act on. Once named, the same device is instantly recognizable across every screen without having to cross-reference an inventory spreadsheet.
