Network Refresh: Before and After
If you're replacing or re-tuning your Wi-Fi (new access points, new channel plan), Signal Vortex can show you whether it actually made things better. You flag the site before the work starts, and the sensors keep a record of how the network behaved.
How it works
On a site's overview, a Site status bar shows either In production or Refresh planned.
- Plan a refresh (Admin) — the site shows Refresh planned. The sensors start building a "before" picture over a rolling 21-day window, dropping the oldest day as each new one arrives. The bar shows how many days have been collected.
- Confirm refresh complete (Admin) — once the new network is live, confirm it. The site returns to In production, the last 14 days are kept as the "before" picture, and the next 14 days are measured as the "after". Because days when the work was under way will be part of the baseline, confirm only once the new network is up and running.
- Collecting after-data — the bar shows "day N of 14". You can open the Refresh tab to preview the comparison, but early results are less reliable.
- The report — after 14 days of after-data, the Refresh tab shows an overall verdict and compares health score, channel airtime, retries, noise floor, client signal, channel changes and roaming, marking each one Better, Same or Worse, with the before and after values side by side and an hour-of-day airtime chart.
You can Cancel refresh while it's still planned. Completed refreshes are listed on the Refresh tab, newest first.
Why it matters
"It feels faster" isn't evidence. Comparing the same measures before and after, over equal periods, tells you whether the investment paid off and where it didn't.
